Solar Panel Systems
One of the first steps to gaining energy independence is choosing which solar panel system to invest in. Each system will give you clean, renewable energy. Next, you have to determine how much you want to depend on the traditional grid.
Your choice is more than deciding to be on or off the grid. The amount of roof space you have, the angle of your roof, and other factors out of your control affect which system will work best for you. Grid-Tiered System
The “grid” is the utility company’s existing infrastructure that brings their power to your building. A grid-tiered system means your home is connected to your solar panel system, but you can access the utility company’s power grid as needed. This is crucial if your roof doesn’t have enough space for many panels or if you don’t have battery storage. That way, if the power goes out or there is poor weather, you aren’t left in the dark.
As a bonus, if your panels produce more energy than your home needs, you may have the option to sell it back to your electric company.
This is the most common type of system for homes and small businesses. Even if your home isn’t designed in a way to maximize solar, your system will still help offset your utility bill.
Off-Grid System
Say goodbye to the electric company and hello to absolute energy independence.
An off-grid system means you completely disconnect from the grid and power your home entirely with solar energy. While you’ll no longer see a bill from your electric company, this will require a more significant investment upfront.
Moving off the grid requires a battery storage system. That way, you can power through the night and inclement weather without worrying about running out of energy. These batteries will also be larger than if you were still connected to the grid. It is also a good idea to invest in a generator, just in case.
Before disconnecting, know how much energy your home uses. That way, your production will match your needs. Depending on the size of your roof, you may not be able to install enough panels to power your home with solar energy. If you live on a large parcel of land, you can install solar panels on the ground to help.
Hybrid System
A hybrid system is a safe middle ground. Your panels will still work hard for you, but you’re still connected to the grid, just in case. A hybrid system will also come with battery storage, so you don’t have to rely on the grid when the weather is poor.

How to Know Which System is Best for You
Your decision will depend on your home’s architecture, the size of the land you live on and what your individual needs are. You’ll also want to remember that solar panel efficiency degrades over time, so while you may make enough energy to go off the grid now, that may change in 10 years. They came by and did the standard entry point spraying and checked for rodents. Very professional, friendly, and quick. The staff has always been prompt and friendly. The last service guy even text me a picture of a large opening that needed to be resealed and offered to fix it that day. It was an area that I normally wouldn’t even looked at and appreciate the extra effort to notify me of a potential problem. I’ve been impressed from the beginning with Edge. In fact, we never buy anything from door to door sales but the sales guy was so knowledgeable & friendly that my husband happily signed up.— demi sockwell

Got Edge peat control to help me with grain beettle issue. First service was ok. I called in 2 weeks since it wasn't going down, they were responsive and sent someone the next day. Beetles started going down after that. Then after 1 month, they came again and Graham sprayed the house thoroughly. Very happy with Graham. Wish he came the other times too. He was very professional and took care of outside the house as well. We haven't seen ants or other bugs that we seen last summer. Beetle problem went down a lot and hoping with another spray, we should be able to kill them all. Update 11/13: Still having issues but a manager took over my account and has been actively working on to get rid of my beettles issue. Very happy with their service. I understand that bug issues are a process to eliminate but Edge is working hard to get my house beettles free.— Sharaf Ahmed
